Brock Road is a residential placement program for transitional youth 17+ years old (male and female) who have been diagnosed as having an intellectual disability and who are DSO eligible. The home is located on Brock Road in Pickering and provides a family-like environment with private bedrooms for up to five individuals.
The home supports individuals while they wait for a funded adult bed in the Developmental Services system. Individuals served come from a variety of backgrounds, including individuals who have more severe Autism with communication barriers and behavioural concerns.
The staff serves transitional age individuals who:
- May require support to follow general safety rules at home and in the community;
- May require some 1:1 assistance with daily living skills (i.e. toileting, bathing, tooth brushing and dressing);
- Will receive supervision in the community at a 3:1 staffing ratio; and/or
- Will develop a life plan and work toward achieving personal goals.
